It looks as though the Librarian’s Internet Index (LII) will be going through its third incarnation. The faceted navigation filters after runnining a preliminary search have disappeared. LII will be merging with the Internet Public Library (IPL). Information consultant Gwen Harris highlights some other subject directories in her recent Internet News Blog posting. The academic counterpart to LII, Infomine, based at UC Riverside, continues to develop its content-rich database of scholary resources. Best of the Web from New York also maintains its evaluated sites since its inception in 1994. Let’s hope LII’s merger with IPL continues to maintain the same high-level quality many Web users have come to respect and rely on for their information needs.
